It will thus be seen that of the 44 Underground Bakehouses in existence
when the Act became operative, one has been demolished, 16 closed or
disused, and the remaining 27 have been so improved as regards their sanitary
condition as to have been certified as suitable for use.
These have been established at least 20 years.
