where the material of or with which such surface is constructed or covered is
such as to render the lime-washing thereof unsuitable or inexpedient, and
where such surface is thoroughly cleansed, and the paint or other covering
is renewed, if the renewal thereof be necessary for the purpose of keeping the
premises in a cleanly and wholesome condition.
15.— The Keeper shall provide and maintain in good working order all
requisite means for the ventilation of the rooms, passages and staircases thereof.
16.—The Keeper shall cause every room therein and every passage and
staircase in such house to be thoroughly ventilated daily
17.—The Keeper shall cause the walls and ceilings of every room, and of
the staircases, passages, water-closets, cupboards, and out-houses thereof,
to be thoroughly cleansed, and where not papered well and sufficiently limewashed
at least once in every year.
He shall also cause all the inside and outside wood and ironwork which
shall have been painted to be well washed with soap and water once (at
least) in every year, namely, in the month of April, and all floors, stairs,
yards, and areas to be kept well washed and free from dust and dirt.
18.—The Keeper shall, when a person in such house is suffering from
any dangerous infectious disease, give immediate notice thereof to the
Medical Officer of Health of the City of London.
19.—In every case where, in pursuance of any statutory provision in
that behalf, an order of a Justice has been obtained for the removal from
a Common Lodging House to a hospital of a person who is suffering from
any dangerous infectious disease, the Keeper of such house shall, on being
informed of such order, forthwith take all such steps as may be requisite to
secure the safe and prompt removal of such person in compliance with such
order, and shall in and about such removal adopt all such precautions as, in
accordance with any instructions which he may receive from the Medical
Officer of Health of the City of London, may be most suitable for the
circumstances of the case.
20.—A Keeper shall not cause or suffer any animal to be kept in any room
which has been let for hire to, or is occupied by, any lodger, or elsewhere
upon the premises in such a manner as to render such room or premises filthy.
21.—The Keeper shall cause a copy of these Regulations to be hung
up or placed in a conspicuous part of each room into which lodgers are
received.
