with published national figures the practice of the Registrar General has been followed in producing this table, namely in taking full account of any known changes in
diagnosis after the receipt of the original notification. These corrections were not available prior to 1944. Comparable figures can be obtained by the method given in the
footnote to this table in the years 1947-51.
