Refresher
courses
In addition to the statutory requirement to attend every 5 years a refresher course
approved by the Central Midwives Board, all midwives were offered a lecturedemonstration
course of six lectures at County Hall. These courses which were open
to all midwives who had notified their intention to practise in London and Surrey
were attended by 321 midwives.
Fifty-six midwives also attended a course in natural childbirth by Dr. and Mrs.
Grantlv Dick Read, arranged by the Central Council for Health Education.
