Foreword
by the right hon. the chairman of the
london county council
Because of his approaching retirement, this is the last Annual
Report of the County Medical Officer of Health and School
Medical Officer of the Administrative County of London that will
be signed by Sir Allen Daley.
His annual reports have served the purpose, not only of recording
progress but also of drawing attention to outstanding problems in
the public health field. Sir Allen has held every professional honour
open to members of his branch of the medical profession, and has
contributed richly from his wisdom and experience both to the
health services of the Council and to the public health work of the
nation as a whole.
During his years of service with the Council he has endeared
himself to the Council and its staff, and has justifiably earned their
profound respect for his many admirable qualities and abilities.
