It will be seen from the foregoing table that the diarrhoea death-rate in the quinquennium
1905-9 was highest in Shoreditch (1.06) and lowest in Hampstead (0.14), while in 1910 it was highest
in Bermondsey (0.67) and lowest in Hampstead (0 09). The diarrhoea death-rates in London in each
of the four quarters of the year 1910 were as follows: first quarter, 012; second quarter, 0.15
third quarter, 0 57; and fourth quarter, 0.38.
The annual reports give account of the steps taken to limit diarrhoeal mortality, and these do
not differ from those of the previous year, except that in Woolwich the supply of milk from a milk
depot provided by the Borough Council has been abandoned. The voluntary notification of cases of
diarrhoea in the summer months in this borough wa"s continued.
Erysipelas.
The deaths(a) from erysipelas in the Administrative County of London during 1910 (52 weeks)
numbered 133, as compared with 180 in 1909 (52 weeks).
The age-distribution of such of these deaths as belong to London was as follows—
