The number of bodies received into the mortuaries of the metropolitan borough councils during the year is shown in the following table:—

Dr. Alexander reports that on the completion of the new mortuary in Cottage-street, Poplar,
directions were given for it to be used for the whole borough of Poplar, and for the mortuaries in
St. Leonard's-road, Brickmore-street, Wellington-road and Bow Churchyard to be closed.
Dr. Caldwell Smith states that the question of the provision of a new mortuary for Wandsworth
was under consideration, but no decision as to the site had been arrived at, and that the
mortuary at Tooting had been closed pending the erection of a new one in Wandsworth.
Cleansing of persons.

The number of verminous persons cleansed in 1910 is shown in some of the annual reports, and the following table has been compiled from the information thus supplied:—

(a) No shelter is maintained by the Borough Council. In the case of Holborn, 16 persons were accommodated
in the Finsbury Borough Council's shelter.
(b) Dealt with by the Board of Guardians at the expense of the Kensington Borough Council.
(c) In addition to the number of children disinfected shown in the table, 354 children, bed-fellows of such
children, were also cleansecl.
