During the year the following authorised offensive businesses, other than that of a slaughterer
of cattle, were discontinued: the business of a fat-melter in Hackney, and the business of a fat-melter
at four registered premises in Hammersmith: and the Council sanctioned the establishment anew of
the business of a fat-melter at premises in the Deptford Foreign Cattle Market. Hence the number of
premises on which scheduled offensive businesses were carried on declined from 71 in 1909 to G7
in 1910.
Other
offensive
businesses
The number of such authorised offensive businesses, except those in the markets under the
jurisdiction of the City Corporation, was at the end of the year as follows:—
Fat melters 16 Manure manufacturers 2
Tripe boilers .22 Soap boilers 12
Glue and size manufacturers 5 Tallow melters 6
Knackers 5 Gut manufacturers 3
Fellmongers 6 —
Bone boilers 2 . 79
In several instances more than one offensive business is carried on at the same premises, hence
the number of premises used for the purpose of these businesses is smaller than the number of such
businesses.

The boroughs in which these premises are situated, the number of premises, and for most boroughs, the number of inspections, are shown in the following table:—
