From this it appears, then, that the typhoid bacillus on all materials had been completely
devitalised. It has to be added that in both experiments (a and b), one "paper" on which the
corresponding emulsion of the typhoid bacillus had been allowed to dry, had been kept for control;
this, on subsequent culture in phenol broth, and from this on phenol agar plate, yielded in
24 hours copious growth of the typhoid bacillus, typical in respect of morphology, culture, and
agglutination by typhoid blood.
