In order to show the connections and intercommunication of the different metropolitan railways and the additional facilities for the transit of goods and passengers thus afforded, the following summary is given of the whole of the metropolitan railways and of the running powers of each over other lines.

Great EasternLondon, Brighton and South Coast Railway— New-cross (East London junction and station) to Croydon (New).
London, Tilbury and Southend Railway—
Bow junction to Abbey-mills lower junction.
Tottenham and Hampstead Junction Railway—
Whole line, jointly with Midland.
South Eastern Railway—
New-cross junction to New-cross station.
Midland Railway—
Highgate - road junction to St. Pancras, passengers.
East London Joint Committee—
Leased jointly with London, Brighton and South Coast, London, Chatham and Dover, Metropolitan, Metropolitan District, and South Eastern Companies, and worked jointly with Metropolitan and Metropolitan District. Has running powers over Bishopsgate junction to Liverpool-street.
Great NorthernGreat Eastern Railway—
(1) Victoria-park junction to Victoria docks.
(2) Bow junction to Mint-street.
(3) Poplar junction to East India docks.
South Eastern Railway—
Blackfriars junction to London-bridge and Bricklayers'-arms.
London, Brighton and South Coast Railway—
Stewart's-lane junction to Battersea (goods).
London, Chatham and Dover Railway—
(1) West-street junction (near Farringdonstreet) to Lavender-hill junction (near Clapham junction).
(2) Stewart's-lane junction to Victoria, Herne-hill and Brockley-lane.
London and South Western Railway—
Lavender-hill junction to Clapham junction station.
Metropolitan Railway—
King's-cross junction to Moorgate-street and West-street junction.
North London Railway—
St. Pancras junction to Victoria-park junction, Bow junction and Poplar.
London, Tilbury and Southend Railway—
Bromley junction to Tilbury docks.
Great WesternNorth and South Western Junction and London and North Western Railways—
Acton-wells junction to Willesden.
London, Chatham and Dover Railway—
Longhedge junction (near Stewart's-road junction, Battersea) to Victoria and Stewart's-lane.
Metropolitan Railway—
Bishop's-road to Aldgate.
Metropolitan District Railway—
Earl's-court junction to Mansion-house.
West London Railway—
Whole line, jointly with London and North
Western.
West London Extension Railway—
Whole line, jointly with London and North Western, London and South Western, and London, Brighton and South Coast.
Hammersmith and City Railway—
Whole line jointly with Metropolitan.
London and South Western Railway—
Hammersmith to Richmond.
London and North WesternLondon, Brighton aud South Coast Railway—
