INFLUENZA.
Since the serious epidemic of 1918, there have been several small recurrences, but none
so extensive in distribution or so severe in character.
During the past year one of these small recurrences occurred, and 80 deaths were
recorded from this disease—more than three times the number of the preceding year.

SYPHILIS.

In the following table are given the age and sex distribution of deaths certified during 1924 as due to (a)declared syphilis,(b)locomotor ataxy and general paralysis of the insane, which are late manifestations of the disease, and(c)aortic aneurysm, which many authorities now consider to be frequently caused by it : —
