It will be seen that the number of primary notifications on forms A, B, C and I), was
525. In addition to this, 41 other cases were not notified, but first came to knowledge by means
of special death reports (see table). The total number of new cases during the year was
therefore 566, equal to a notification rate of 2.59 per 1000 of the population. The corresponding
figure for the previous year was 577 cases, with a notification rate of 2.69 per 1000.
Of the total 566 new cases, 447 were suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis, and 119 were
non-pulmonary in character, equal to a notification rate of 2.05 and 0.54 respectively.
