§8—REFUSE REMOVAL.
The collection of House Refuse.—The reconstruction of London houses in flats
is necessitating the more frequent removal of domestic refuse. Dust shoots are
objectionable. Every separate dwelling should have its small separate portable
receptacle. It is physically difficult for dustmen to carry down from each flat
or dwelling each separate receptacle to the dustvan. The simplest method is
to have a large portable common receptacle or receptacles for the
whole house or building on the ground floor level and to cause it to be emptied
daily by the dustmen, and to require the tenant of each flat or dwelling to
cause his small portable receptacle to be emptied daily into the larger portable
receptacle or receptacles.
