The number of premises on the other Register has varied
very slightly.
The number of persons employed in the various classes of premises under
inspection is, in round numbers:—
Factories 3500
Workshops 3000
Laundries 600
Although there are only 86 Factories on the Register, the large number of
women employed in them makes them an important part of a Woman
Inspector's work.
As regards the distribution of work during the year, roughly speaking, it
may be said to have been divided as follows :—
January and February were taken up with the completion of the Winter
Inspection of Workshops and the Winter Inspection
of Factories.
March, April, May—Inspection of new Workshops.
First Summer Inspection of Workshops A.
June—Summer Inspection of Workshops B.
July, August—Second Summer Inspection of Workshops A.
Schools.
Summer Inspection of Laundries.
