Table IV shows the proportion which deaths from Zymotic,
Pulmonary, and Tubercular diseases, in the year 1882, bear to
each 1000 of population and each 1000 of total deaths, and
which the deaths of children under one year of age from
Wasting and Convulsive diseases bear to each 1000 of births
and each 1000 of deaths of infants under one year.
Table V shows the number of deaths from the principal
Zymotic Diseases in the year 1882, and the ten preceding
years, and the proportion which these deaths bear to total
deaths during the same period.

DEATHS FROM VARIOUS DISEASES.
Pulmonary Diseases.
Pulmonary Diseases other than Phthisis caused 1011
deaths, or 92 more than in the preceding year. During the
previous eight years the average number of deaths from these
diseases has been in the proportion of 221.1 in every 1000
deaths from 'all causes,' or 4.5 in every 1000 of population,
whereas in 1882, the proportion was 213.7 in every 1000
of total deaths and 4.2 per 1000 of population. During 1882
in London the proportion has been 221.8 per 1000 of total
deaths and 4.7 per 1000 of population.

The following table shows the number of deaths from Pulmonary diseases other than Phthisis occuring in each sub-registration district, and the proportion per 1000 of population and per 1000 of total deaths.*

* The previous address of 26 persons dying from Pulmonary diseases
in Public Institutions and 138 persons dying from "all causes" in Public
Institutions could not be ascertained, and the deaths of these persona
are therefore excluded from consideration. The death rates are calculated
on the population of each district which does not include persona resident
in hospitals and workhouses.
