deaths of St. Pancras parishoners of this age was 1110, this
number is 234.6 per 1000 of the corrected total deaths, and is
in the proportion of 142.8 of each 1000 registered births
during the same period. The proportion of deaths under one
year, to total deaths in the Metropolis is 242.7 per 1000, or
8.1 above that of St. Pancras. During the preceding ten
years in St. Pancras the average proportion of deaths under
one year to 10C0 deaths from all causes has been 248.4, and
therefore, 13.8 above that of the year 1882.
During the year 1882, 1953 St. Pancras parishioners under
five years of age died, being 412.8 per 1000 of the total
deaths. This is practically the same as in the preceding year,
when the number of deaths was 411.0 per 1000. In the
whole of London the proportion of deaths at this age to total
deaths was 437 3, the average in St. Pancras in the last 10
years being 402.5.
Between the ages of five and sixty-five 1901, and above
sixty-five years, 876 St. Pancra3 parishioners died during the
year. The number of deaths in the preceding year of those
from five to sixty-five years of age was greater and of those
above sixty-five less than in the present year.
In 1882, 1223 deaths took place in Public Institutions
situated in the district, being 81 less than in the preceding
year, and 868 St. Pancras parishioners died in Public
Institutions, situated in St. Pancras and in other parts of
the Metropolis, being 183.5 per 1000 of total deaths from all
causes.
At the end of this report will be found a series of Tables
recommended by the Society of Medical Officers of Health.
Table I shows the population, the Dumber of inhabited
houses, of marriages, births and deaths during 1882, and the
ten preceding years.
Table II shows the annual birth-rate, death-rate, death-rate
of children, and proportion of deaths in public institutions
in every 1000 deaths for the same years.
Table III shows the corrected number of deaths of St.
Pancras parishioners at different ages and from the various
causes in 1882. and is followed by another table containing a
summary.
