Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
The percentage of children attending school in the Borough
was as follows :—in Clapham, 77 out of 194, or 39 per cent.; in
Putney, 31 out of 64, or 48 per cent.; in Streatham, 206 out of 294,
or 70 per cent.; in Tooting, 151 out of 312, or 48 per cent.; and in
Wandsworth, 250 out of 445, or 48 per cent.
The percentage in Tooting is calculated after deduction of
the cases notified in Institutions in that sub-district.
In Clapham the schools chiefly affected were New Park Road
with 14 cases, Parochial, Old Town with 10 cases, and Haselrigge
Road with nine cases.
In Putney, of the 31 cases, 11 were in attendance at Hotham
Road, and eight at St. Mary's.
In Streatham the schools chiefly affected were Smallwood
Road with 49 cases, Broadwater Road with 42 cases, Furzedown
Demonstration with 22 cases, and Mitcham Lane with 10 cases.
32 of the cases were in attendance at private schools, these chiefly
occurring in February, March and June.
In Tooting, Tooting Graveney with, 34 cases, Fountain Road
with 30 cases, Ensham Street with 25 cases, and Sellincourt Road
with 24 cases, were the schools principally attacked during the year.
In Wandsworth, Swaffield Road with 41 cases, Earlsfield and
Waldron Road with 24 cases each, Eltringham Street with 22 cases,
Garratt Lane with 20 cases, St. Faith's with 14 cases, were the
schools chiefly affected. 26 of the cases were in attendance at
private schools.
The Medical Officer of the London County Council excluded
three children from three schools during the year, in April, May
and June, until a medical certificate was received to the effect that
the child was free from infectious disease. The homes of these
