Slaughter-houses.
There were 13 Slaughter-houses and one Knacker's Yard on
the Register in 1914, one in Wandsworth was removed, leaving 12
on the Register.
The slaughter-house licensed by the London County Council
for slaughtering horses for human food was frequently inspected,
and during the year 214 horses have been slaughtered on the
premises, and all were exported, compared with 268 in 1914.
During the year 329 inspections were made of these, but it
was only necessary to serve two notices for cleansing. The usual
cleansing was carried out by the occupiers at the proper times.
During the year the Inspectors inspected the carcases of 548
cattle, 2,323 sheep, 261 pigs, and 12 calves in slaughter-houses
and butchers' shops, and reported that these were all sound when
exposed for sale.
Offensive Trades.
There are now only two offensive trade premises in the Borough.
47 inspections of these have been made, and it was necessary to
serve one intimation notice for contravention of the By-laws.
Ice Cream Premises.
At the end of 1914 there were 346 of these on the Register.
During 1915, 13 were added and 12 removed, leaving a total of
347 on the Register, 425 inspections were made of these premises
during the year and 34 notices were served, all of which were for
cleansing.
