134 Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
These children were cleansed by the officials of the London
County Council at the Cleansing Station under the supervision of
that Authority.
106 adults had baths, 62 were contacts with cases of infective
diseases, and 44 were verminous.
Inspection of Urinals in connection with Licensed Premises.
The number of urinals inspected was 123, 29 in Clapham,
19 in Putney, 25 in Streatham, 10 in Tooting, and 40 in Wandsworth.
516 inspections were made during the year and 27 notices, chiefly
for cleansing, were served and complied with.
In the Borough there are at present 14 public sanitary conveniences,
while there are in addition 21 urinals only belonging to
the Council.
199 inspections of the sanitary conveniences for females were
made by the female Sanitary Inspectors. The provision of free
conveniences for the use of females has been much appreciated,
but these entail a greater amount of supervision on the part of the
staff employed.
87 inspections have been made during the year by the Inspectors
of other sanitary conveniences, chiefly in the elementary
schools in the Borough.
Inspection of Premises where Food is prepared for Sale or Sold.
During the year 135 inspections have been made of fried fish
shops, 378 of butchers' shops, 387 of greengrocers' shops, and 254
of fishmongers' shops, a total of 1,154.
231 of these inspections were in Clapham, 264 in Putney,
228 in Streatham, 120 in Tooting, and 311 in Wandsworth.
