The total number of cases notified was 430, (83 in Clapham
19 in Putney, 105 in Streatham, 86 in Tooting, and 137 in Wandsworth),
compared with 431 in 1912, 510 in 1911, and 284 in 1910.
This number was 64 under the corrected, and 36 under the uncorrected
decennial average.
In all the sub-districts (with the exception of Putney) there has
been a slight increase compared with 1912, in Clapham of five, in
Streatham of 10, in Tooting of 38, and in Wandsworth of nine;
while in Putney the decrease was 63.
The greatest number of cases occurred in Wandsworth, and the
smallest in Putney.
The number of cases notified per 1,000 of population was 1-34,
compared with 1.37 in 1912, 1.65 in 1911, and .95 in 1910; and in
London, 1.6, compared with 1.57, 1.7, and 1.13.
372 or 86.5 per cent. of the cases were removed to hospital
where 16 died, and 58 or 13.5 per cent. were treated at home with
two deaths.
The case mortality was 4.2 per cent., compared with 4.1 in 1912,
6.6 in 1911, and 5.6 in 1910.
The case mortality for the whole of London for the year 1913
was 5.6 per cent., compared with 7.4 in 1912, 8.3 in 1911, and 7.9
in 1910.
The case mortality among cases treated in hospital was 4.4
per cent., and among those treated at home 3.4 per cent.
The following Table shows the number of cases, the case-rate
per 1,000 living, for the year and for the 10 previous years, the
number of deaths and the death-rate for the whole Borough, as
well as for the separate sub-districts.
