Inspection of Premises where Food is prepared for Sale
or Sold.
During the year 224 inspections have been made of fried fish
shops, 528 of butchers' shops, 497 of greengrocers' shops, and 364
of fishmongers' shops, a total of 1,620.
226 of these inspections were in Clahpam, 251 in Putney,
546 in Streatham, 191 in Tooting, and 406 in Wandsworth.
Police Court Proceedings.
The list which follows shows particulars of Police Court proceedings
under the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, during
the year.
The total amount of fines inflicted was £15 15s. 0d., and the
costs £3 18s. 6d., compared with £15 10s. 0d. and £5 8s. 0d. in 1912.
The majority of the cases were with respect to nuisances or
contraventions of By-laws, while two were for exposing unsound
food for sale, and two for the absence of proper and sufficient water
supply to the premises.
Two cases were for selling milk without being registered as
required by the Dairies, Cowsheds and Milkshops Order, 1885, and
one for selling milk from dirty receptacles.
