Report of the Medical Officer of Health. 133
The total number of deaths shown in Table LXV., viz., 328,
does not agree with the number in the Table of deaths on page 130,
viz.:—289.
Of the 39 remaining, 24 cases did not die from Pulmonary
Tuberculosis, although notified as such, six died from other forms
of Tuberculosis, and nine died outside the Borough.
15 cases of Pulmonary Tuberculosis were notified by the
School Medical Inspectors of the Education Department of the
London County Council, these cases having been discovered in
the examination of children at school.
Of the 783 cases visited by the Inspectors, or in which the information
was given by the medical attendant, in 72 this was
so indefinite that it was impossible to tabulate it, in the majority
of cases no family history being known.
10 cases were notified from the Workhouse, 12 from Asylums,
one from H.M. Prison, seven from common lodging houses, one
was homeless, in four cases wrong addresses were given, four had
removed, in 22 the patients were either lodgers or domestic servants
and the occupier of the house could give no information, one was
a case of mistaken diagnosis, in eight cases no definite information
was obtainable, and in only one instance the Inspector was refused
information.
