Tooting Baths.

95. The number of bathers, and the income since the opening of the baths at the Broadway, Tooting, in June,1907, are as follows :—

96. Difficulty having been experienced in drying the towels,
&c., in the laundry at the Wandsworth Baths,
alterations and additions have been carried out
in order to make the machinery more efficient. The drying closet
has been extended by the addition of six new horses, the heater
replaced by one of larger heating surface and capable of standing
a higher pressure, and a new blower of higher speed provided. A new
fan and shaft for ventilating the laundry has also been provided.

97. The subject of the provision of additional swimming
accommodation on the eastern side of the Borough
has continued to receive careful consideration,
and land at the rear of houses in Elmfield Road, Balham, is being
acquired for the purpose of erecting a swimming bath thereon;

98. Applications having been made for mixed bathing to
be allowed at the Wandsworth baths, the Council,
after careful consideration, decided to allow it on
Monday evenings, that being considered the most suitable time.
Subject to certain regulations which the Council adopted, suitable
arrangements have been made at the baths, and the attendance is
considered satisfactory.
