Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
(h) Passage at rear of 115-133, Mitcham Road, Tooting, is being
satisfactorily repaired, but owing to frost the work was not
completed at the end of the year.
(i) Passage at rear of 174-190, Garratt Lane, Wandsworth,
has not been done, but the matter is now in the Solicitor's
hands and proceedings against the owners are being taken.
(k) Passage at rear of 102-116, Mitcham Lane, Streatham,
has been properly gravelled and the nuisance abated.
(8)—Special house-to-house inspections were made during the year
in Young's Rents, Rowlands Cottages, Rashleigh Street, and
Union Grove, Clapham ; Biggs Row, Weimar Street, and Brewhouse
Lane, Putney ; Greyhound Square, Mill Lane, New Park
Road, Foss Road and Hazelhurst Road, Streatham ; Graveney
Road, Selkirk Road, Trevelyan Road, Aldis Mews, Rookstone
Road, and Letchworth Street, Tooting ; and Point Pleasant,
Warple Way, Warple Road, Armoury Yard, Frogmore, Lydclen
Road, Lydden Grove, and Wardley Street, Wandsworth.
These inspections were made chiefly on account of nuisances
and damp conditions reported to me by the Sanitary Inspectors,
and also to ascertain if any of these premises could be reported
to the Council under the Housing, Town Planning, &c., Act.
Including the house-to-house inspections and inspections
for certificates under the Revenue Act, but excluding the routine
inspection of bakehouses, slaughter-houses, cowsheds, and
offensive trade premises, 1,150 inspections were made of premises,
chiefly previous to the service of statutory notices.
My attendance at the Police Court was necessary on 10
occasions during the year
(9)—A special inspection was also made in company with the Borough
Engineer of the land at Putney Vale acquired by the Council
for the extension of the Cemetery there, and the following
report was made:—
