Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
The Medical Officer of the Local Government Board in his
Report for 1910-11, in dealing with the question of the introduction
of cases and the methods adopted to prevent these cases from
causing an epidemic, makes the following remarks, "the success
hitherto achieved, in many small outbreaks that have occurred,
is remarkable; but the slowly diminishing protection of the population
by vaccination is a necessary cause of disquietude for the
future. This is especially the case in certain districts in which the
proportion of unprotected children is becoming large."
The following Table shows the percentage to total vaccinations
of abstention from vaccination and acceptance of vaccination in
the Borough, Metropolitan Unions, and England and Wales for the
last 10 years.
