A comparison of the number of persons per rated hereditament
for the years 1901 and 1911 shows that there has been a considerable
alteration during the decennium, and this to a large extent explains
why the calculation of population during the decennium has proved
a fallacious one. The number of persons per rated hereditament
has decreased in the whole Borough from 5.35 to 4.67, a diminution
having occurred in all the sub-districts with the exception of
Fairfield Ward, where there was a slight increase. The diminution
was greatest in Clapham South, and Springfield, and least in
Tooting.
Table III. shows the population of each sub-district, compared
with the Census population, uncorrected and corrected for
Institutions
Sub-District. | Census Population, 1911. | Population estimated to middle of 1911. | |

all the rates in this Report.
