Hoarding
Licences and
Advertisements
on Hoardings.
116. Having regard to objections which were made to the
amount of the Council's charges for permission to
advertise on hoardings erected on the public way,
the general question of the licensing of these hoardings
and the placing of advertisements thereon was reconsidered.
After careful enquiry, the Council decided to adhere to the practice
of granting licenses for a period of one month, upon payment
of a fee of 5s. for each licence; and to reduce the charge in respect
of advertisements one-half, i.e., from is. to 6d. per square yard
per month in main streets, and from 6d. to 3d. per square yard per
month in other streets. The Borough Engineer was authorized to
sanction the affixing of advertisements to hoardings, if he sees no
objection thereto; and directions were given for a note to be
placed at the foot of the licences giving particulars of the
Council's charges in the matter.
