Table I. shows that in all the Wards, with the exception of
Fairfield, there has been a great increase in population since 1901,
the greatest being in Streatham, next in Southfield, next in Tooting,
and the smallest in Fairfield and Clapham North.
The estimated uncorrected population for 1907 was 325,850,
and in 1908 335,500, or an increase of 9,650, while the corrected
population was, in 1907 320,120, and in 1908 329,700.
The corrected population in Table II. is used to calculate the
rates in this Report.
The difference between the corrected and uncorrected population
is made up by the population in the Public Institutions of
/the Borough, which are as follows:—
Clapham:—Hostel of God.
Putney:—The Priory, Roehampton.
Streatham:—St. Anne's Home. (St. Pancras parish.)
Middlesex County Lunatic Asylum (part
of).
