Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
The death-rate was '20 per 1,000, compared with '70 in 1906.
The death-rate for the whole of London also shows a marked
decrease, it being only 33, compared with 95 in 1906, '72 in 1905,
and 1.03 in 1904.
The death-rate in the sub-districts was as follows In Clapham
15, compared with 46 in 1906; in Putney 19, compared with
54; in Streatham 11, compared with 40; in Tooting '92, compared
with 74; and in Wandsworth io, cogipared with 91.
Of the total number of deaths registered, 54 or 83 per cent,
were of infants under one year, compared with 86 per cent, in
1906, and 87 per cent, in 1905.
Including Enteritis, the total number of deaths was 127, compared
with 289 in 1906, 203 in 1905, and 301 in 1904. Of these
127 deaths, 99 or 78 per cent, were of infants under one year.
The following Table shows the number of deaths, from Diarrhoea
and Enteritis under one year for the four quarters of 1907,
and for the five previous years.
