VI.—Confectionery.
One sample of Raspberry Jam and one of Ice Cream were
analysed, and found genuine. In 1905, a similar result was
obtained under this heading.
VII.—Meats.
One sample of Sausages was analysed and found genuine.
In 1905 also, no percentage of impurity was recorded in this
division.
In addition to the above samples, officially bought and divided
at the time of purchase under the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts,
14 samples of unopened Tinned and Preserved Foods were examined,
and the results, which were satisfactory, were reported both
to the Medical Officer of Health and to the Local Government
Board.
In conclusion, I may add that the Food and Drug Supply of
the Borough has slightly retrograded during the year, the percentage
of impurity having risen from 7.62 in 1905 to 9.28 in 1906.
