Council to bring the shop front beyond the building line, has been,
added to the public way and paved with artificial stone, at a cost
of £6 2s. 11d.
The kerb has been re-laid and the footpath repaired at a cost
Buckleigh Road. of £57 10S. 9d.
In connection with the re-building of the Mitre Hotel, at the
junction of Mitcham Road and Charlmont Road,
negotiations have been completed for the
sition of two strips of land which were needed in order to widen
Mitcham Road and Charlmont Road to 60 feet and 40 feet respectively.
The work of re-building the Hotel, by Messrs. Nalder &
Collyer, has been completed, the old drinking trough has been
removed, and the necessary paving works in Mitcham Road and
Charlmont Road have been completed.

The cost of this improvement, including the purchase of land
and the paving works, amounted to £507 15s. 11d. The proportionate
cost of the land acquired, together with the paving
works in Mitcham Road, has been charged to the Mitcham Road
Improvement.
The Council decided, as an experiment, to coat the surface
of Cedars Road with a dressing of tar. The work
was carried out by the Council s employees; the
cost amounting to £61 7s. 10d., or 2,195 pence per super yard.
The whole of the external wood and iron work at the Clapham
Library has been painted and certain rooms in
the librarian's house have been papered and painted
and distempered under contract.

The notice board has also been painted and re-lettered. The
contractors for the work were Messrs. T. Sully & Co., 34, Old
Town, Clapham ; the total cost of the work being £44 4s. 8d.
A re-arrangement of boundaries has been agreed to with
Messrs. Searle & Searle, acting on behalf of the owners of Rastrick
House, the property adjoining the library, by exchanging a
piece of land belonging to the library for a strip of land belonging
