The portion of Bedford Hill, extending from Balham High
Road to Hildreth Street, has been paved with tar-

macadam, the contractors being Messrs. Constable,
Hart & Co. The cost of the work amounted to £238 2s. 6d.
In connection with the Blackshaw Road Improvement, an
agreement has been entered into with the Lambeth
Borough Council, they having conveyed to the
Council strips of land for the purpose of widening the road to 50
feet. The work of forming the roadway has been commenced.

The tile paving to the entrance from fence to the library has
Balham Library. been removed and "Indurated" stone has been laid.
The heating furnace has been overhauled and repaired at a
cost of £8 15s. od. Messrs Strode & Co. were the contractors.
Additional lighting has been provided in the reading room at
a cost of £4.
A dwarf wall has been erected on a portion of the side of the
library as a retaining wall for the earth and footpath. This work
was executed by the Council's employees.
Owing to the defective nature of the old barrel drain under
the footpath in Balham Hill, near Nightingale
Lane, a portion was removed and replaced by
6-inch pipes for a distance of 130 feet from Nightingale Lane
down Balham Hill. The work was carried out by the Council's
employees at a cost of £60 17s. 2d.

The kerb has been taken up and re-laid on cement concrete
Bendon Valley, on both sides of the road at a cost of £74 12s. 2d.
