Investigations carried out by the Group Laboratory on specimens submitted by the Medical
Officer of Health and by general practitioners in the borough totalled 559, comprising 507
faeces, 25 throat swabs, 18 urine, 7 blood, 1 nasal swab and 1 sputum. Bacteriological
investigation on 226 food samples was carried out during the year.
