The work that has been done during the year by the
Inspectors deserves a detailed examination, and on reference
to Tables on pp. 78-79, it will be seen that the
nuisances abated and defects in sanitation (house drainage
especially) remedied are highly satisfactory, and must have
a salutary effect upon the health of the Parishioners;
whilst the sanitary advance made in the year augurs well
for the position that Lambeth will take, and is rapidly
taking, in the Metropolis in respect of Public Health
administration.
The Sewers and Sanitary Committee was split up by
the Vestry into two Committees—the Sewers and the
Sanitary; and when the different duties to be relegated to
each of these two Committees came to be considered, some
important alterations in connection with house drainage
were suggested by the Committees, and adopted by the
Vestry as follows:—The Medical Officer brought up a Report
