diseases have been, or are still often, indistinguishable the
one from the other. During 1896 in Lambeth, 27 cases
were notified from this disease, and 11 deaths were registered,
giving a case mortality of 40.8, as compared with 23
cases notified, and 9 deaths during 1895. 2 of the 27
Lambeth cases of Membranous Croup were removed to
Hospital.
In London, during 1896, there were registered 2663
deaths out of a total of 18941 cases of diphtheria and membranous
croup notified, giving a case mortality of 191%.*
