SCARLET FEVER.
During 1896, 68 deaths were registered from Scarlet
Fever, as compared with 53 during 1895, and an annual
average of 69 6 for the last 10 years (1886-95). 1,550 cases
were notified, and of these 834 were treated in hospital and
716 at their own homes. The case mortality is, therefore,
4.07 %, varying in different Registration Sub-districts, and
from 1.7 to 6.1 according as the cases were treated at
horrie or in hospital respectively.
