SCARLET FEVER.
During 1896, 68 deaths were registered from Scarlet
Fever, as compared with 53 during 1895, and an annual
average of 69 6 for the last 10 years (1886-95). 1,550 cases
were notified, and of these 834 were treated in hospital and
716 at their own homes. The case mortality is, therefore,
4.07 %, varying in different Registration Sub-districts, and
from 1.7 to 6.1 according as the cases were treated at
horrie or in hospital respectively.
The age and sex incidence and mortality for scarlet fever cases notified in Lambeth during 1896 are as follows:—
