From the above Table it will be seen that, with the exception
of Waterloo Road Second (which has decreased
3%), all the other Sub-districts have increased, the three
Inner 4.5 °/ol and the four Outer 9.3°/0 between 1891 and 1896.
The Registrar-General returns the estimated population
of London for the middle of the year 1896 as 4,421,955,
consisting of 2,095,136 males and 2,326,819 females, and
states that there were registered during the year 38,869
marriages, 135,796 births (69,536 males and 66,260 females),
and 83,511 deaths (43,069 "males and 40,442 females).
There were registered, too, 14,100 deaths from the seven
chief zymotic diseases. The excess of registered births
over deaths, i.e.. the natural increment, is 52,285, and the
estimated increase of population is 41,025.
