VITAL STATISTICS.
The first Quinquennial Census under the Equalisation of
Rates (London) Act, was taken in London on March
29th, 1896, and the enumerated population in Lambeth
Parish at that date is returned by the Registrar-General
at 295,033, as compared with 275,203 at the 1891 Census,
an increase of 19,830 in the last five years, i.e., 3,966
per annum (the yearly increase during the ten years
1881-91 being 2,150).
Taking the censal populations of 1881,1891, and 1896, the
estimated populations to the middle of the year 1896 can
be calculated and are found to be as follows : —
