ANTE-NATAL AND MATERNITY SERVICES.
The number of maternity cases occurring in the North
Middlesex Hospital from the Borough during the year is veryconsiderable—in
1936 it was 172. An arrangement was come to
with the County Council in June whereby normal cases shall,
after booking at and attending the ante-natal clinic at the Hospital
for the first time, attend for routine supervision at the antenatal
clinic at one of our Welfare Centres until about the thirtysixth
week. This arrangement is found to be a boon to mothers
in that it saves them expense and the long journey to Edmonton.
Another advantageous arrangement has been made with the
City of London Maternity Hospital, which will come into force
from the 1st April. 1937. whereby maternity cases will be
admitted to the Hospital from Hornsey for the payment by the
Council of £1 1s. 0d. per case.
