The Registrar General's estimate of population for 1910 was
98,561, an increase of 2,933 over his estimate for 1909.
The following table shows the estimated population for each Ward in 1909 and 1910, with the increase or decrease which has taken place in the interval:—
Ward. | Estimated population, 1909. | Estimated population, 1910. | Variation during the year, 30th June, 1909, to 30th June, 1910. | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Increase. | Decrease. | |||
Highgate | 13,331 | 13,522 | 191 | — |
Muswell Hill | 13,167 | 13,720 | 553 | — |
Crouch End | 5,951 | 6,351 | 400 | — |
West Hornsey | 14,343 | 14,499 | 156 | — |
East Hornsey | 13,033 | 13,315 | 282 | — |
North Haringey | 10,086 | 10,340 | 254 | — |
South Haringey | 5,969 | 5,899 | — | 70 |
Stroud Green | 9,354 | 9,791 | 437 | — |
Finsbury Park | 7,155 | 7,284 | 129 | — |
The Borough | 92,389 | 94,721 | 2,402 | 70 |
Muswell Hill continues to be the most rapidly growing Ward,
and has now overtaken Highgate as regards population, and is
second only to West Hornsey.
It is very satisfactory to see the increase in numbers of residents
in two of the older Wards—Crouch End and Stroud Green,
more especially in Stroud Green, where there was a considerable
increase last year. As there has been no building of new houses
in Stroud Green Ward, there must be considerably fewer empty
houses than for some time past.
In North Haringey also a decrease in population of last year
is this year replaced by a substantial increase.
In the other Wards, except South Haringey, there are satisfactory
increases. In South Haringey there is this year a small,
loss.
For the whole Borough, therefore, there is a total gain of
2,402, and a loss of 70, or a net gain of 2,332.
