In the two remaining Wards there are losses in numbers on
the estimated population. In North Haringey there is a small
loss of 4, as against a considerable loss of 195 in 1908, but in
Stroud Green the loss is 221 this year, as compared with a loss of
78 in 1908.
For the whole Borough, therefore, there is a total gain of
1,800, and a loss of 225, or a net gain of 1,575.

The following table shews the Ward populations at the census, the estimated population 1909, and the increase in 8¼ years:—

This table shews the remarkable growth of Muswell Hill. In
a little over 8 years the population of this part of the Borough
has grown from 5,833 to 13,167.
Very considerable increases have also occurred at Highgate
and Hornsey. At the date of the census, the division into East
and West Hornsey had not been made, and the gain is, therefore,
shewn on the combined population of the two wards. A gain of
nearly 1,200 in Crouch End on a small initial population is also
satisfactory.
In the other parts of the Borough the population is almost
unchanged as regards numbers.
Density of Population.—With the growth of the population
of the Borough, the number of persons per acre has increased
