VACCiNATiON.
The vaccination returns show that 5,907 children were successfully vaccinated
during the last completed year (i907), or 284 less than the successful
vaccinations in i906.
Perhaps the best way to understand the return is by referring to Table CXV.
which gives a return for each year since i880 of the vaccinations per i00
births, less the infants who have died unvaccinated, where it will be found
that the percentage of these vaccinations has fallen from 79-9 in i906 to
76 9 in i907.
On the other hand, by referring to Table CXV. it will be seen that the
number of exemption certificates has risen from i23 in i906 to 259 in i907, or
an increase of ii0 per cent.; and it will be noticed in Table CXV. that the 259
exemptions in i907 have increased to 304 in the first six months of i908.
