DEATHS 1N PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS.
The number of deaths in local institutions was 1,565, as compared with
1,675 in the preceding year, and of these 550 were non-residents who were
undergoing hospital treatment in the Borough.
There were, moreover, 684 Islingtonians who died in extra-borough institutions,
thus bringing up the number of residents who died in institutions
within and without the Borough to 1,699, or 36.3 per cent. of the deaths from
all causes during the year.
Within the Borough.—1,015 inhabitants died in the local institutions,
in addition to which there died 550 persons who had come into the Borough for
medical treatment in the local institutions. 750 persons belonging to the
Borough died in the workhouses, and 120 in the Great Northern Central
Hospital.
