Notices Served.—There were 2,399 intimation notices served by the
inspectors with respect to nuisances, of which, 1,277 were delivered personally
and 1,122 by post. In 265 instances it became necessary, as the intimations
had not been attended to, to report the nuisances to the Public Health Committee,
who ordered statutory notices to be served, of which 53 were delivered
personally and 212 by registered letter post.
Nuisances Discovered.—The subjoined statement shows some of the
principal nuisances discovered, and, as it speaks lor itself, both as to the
character and utility of the work that has been carried out, requires no
comment. It contrasts favourably with the records of previous years : —
