The number of Births registered during the present month
was 81 Males and 77 Females—making a total of 158 Births;
while the Deaths number 45 Males and 43 Females, or a total

to other parishes, and 1 from suicide, leaving but 81 as
referrable to disease. The Deaths for the same period in 1857
was 115, and for last month 117, showing a diminution in
reference to last year of 34, and in reference to last month of 36.

During the present month all those Slaughter-houses for
which applications have been made, have been visited, and I
am happy to be enabled to report them in so satisfactory a
condition, that it is not desirable to oppose any application; in
a few instances suggestions have been made and cheerfully
complied with.
