The Milk Act, 1934.
Milk Marketing Board's Scheme for the Supply of Milk to Schools.
By arrangement with the London County Council samples of milk
delivered to schools in the City under this scheme were taken in course
of delivery to such schools for the purpose of chemical analysis and
bacteriological examination.
Thirty-six samples for bacteriological examination were obtained.
Three samples showed counts of over 200,000 colonies per c.c. The facts
were brought to the notice of the vendors and the appropriate authorities.
In each case further samples were taken and proved satisfactory.
Samples taken at the same time for chemical analysis were found to be
genuine.
Public Health (Condensed Milk) Regulations, 1923 and 1927.
Fifty-two samples were taken and found to be genuine and properly
labelled.
Public Health (Dried Milk) Regulations, 1923 and 1927.
One sample was taken and found to be genuine and properly labelled.
Public Health (Preservatives, &c., in Food) Regulations,
1925-27.
Only certain articles of food may contain preservative, which must
be either sulphur dioxide or benzoic acid as specified in the regulations.
Eleven infringements of these regulations were found as a result of
analysis of samples, details of which are set out in tbe following
pages,
