106 cases, 105 being in respect of registered houses and one non-registered.
There have been no cancellations of registration by the County Court.
Nuisances.—Intimation notices were served in 1,776 instances, the
number of premises concerned being 1,733. Statutory notices authorised
by the sanitary authority numbered 89 and related to 88 premises. Police
court proceedings as detailed below were taken in 3 instances in order to
enforce compliance with the requirements of statutory notices :—

water closet unsuitable and defective,
&c.
(2) Insufficient ventilation in a restaurant
kitchen ; absence of W.C. accommodation.
(3) Dirty and defective conditions in a
ment house.

summonses and £1 1s. costs, one
summons withdrawn.
Abatement order, £3 3s. costs, one
summons withdrawn.
Withdrawn on payment of 10s. 6d.

Water Supply.—The Metropolitan Water Board sent 15 notices of
withdrawal of water supply to premises, consequent upon the failure of the
occupiers to pay the water rate. Appropriate action was taken in each
case.
Water Supply in Tenement Houses.—Power to effect this provision is
given under Section 48 of the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, and
under Section 78 of the London County Council (General Powers) Act,
1907. The number of cases in which this action was taken since 1931
is as follows:—
