These figures remain in fairly constant proportion. The number seen
at St. Stephen's Hospital is the highest for some years. This is evidence
of the useful co-operation between the hospital staff and the dispensary.
As mentioned previously the Tuberculosis Officer has been appointed
honorary consultant in tuberculosis to the hospital. A weekly visit
is paid to the two tuberculosis wards, and many special cases are seen in
other wards at the request of the medical superintendent. Increasing
use has been made of the services of the Tuberculosis Officer since the
arrangement, first started under the Westminster Guardians in 1923,
received official confirmation by the London County Council in 1933.
