Non-notified Deaths.—There were 24 deaths from tuberculosis
during 1934 of persons who had not been notified in Westminster. The
majority of these had been notified elsewhere, some were sudden deaths
of visitors to this country, of inmates of asylums, etc., and the cause of
death in some cases was only discovered on post-mortem examination.
These 24 non-notified deaths gave a percentage of 24.2 of the total
deaths from tuberculosis for the year.
The total number of cases of tuberculosis on the Register at the end
of 1934 was 1,400 (as compared with 1,313 at the end of the year 1933),
of which 1,061 were pulmonary cases, consisting of 705 males and 356
females. Children under 15 years of age number about 80 pulmonary
and 130 non-pulmonary; of these some 25 are in institutions at any one
time, the remainder are attending special or ordinary schools.
