1,098 intimations of nuisances (exclusive of smoke nuisances), &c.,
and 41 statutory notices relating to 30 premises were issued ; 1,028
letters were written in addition.
Police Court proceedings had to be resorted to in respect of 2 properties
for want of supply of water. In each case the summonses were withdrawn
on payment of costs, the water having been re-instated before the
hearing.
Plans.—602 sets of plans were submitted during 1924. Of these
80 were plans of new buildings. The corresponding figures for 1921
were 383 and 22, for 1922, 468 and 39, and for 1923, 551 and 73 respectively.
Ten plans were disapproved, and three others were withdrawn or not
proceeded with. Orders for "Combined Drainage" were made in 33
cases.
In 13 instances the plans related to houses wholly or partially being
converted into flats, and in 5 instances to stables being converted into
dwellings.
Failure to give notice occurred in 23 instances, and to send in plans
15 instances. Sixteen builders were cautioned. Two builders were
summoned for this, having been previously cautioned, and were fined :
one £2 and £3 3s. costs, one £3. Two summonses are outstanding.
Water Supply.—14 notices of withdrawal of water supply were received
from the Metropolitan Water Board. The reasons given for cutting
